Resin keychains are small, quick and perfect for practice. They also make great gifts and return favours, and they're a popular first product for resin businesses. Here's how to make them.
What you'll need
- Vitro 2:1 Clear Epoxy Resin – 300g (5–6 keychains need roughly 30–50 g)
- Keychain silicone moulds: letters, hearts, rounds
- Keyrings and screw eye pins
- Decoration: tiny dried flowers, glitter, foil, name stickers, small charms
- A hand drill or pin vice (if your mould has no hole)
- Gloves, a scale, small cups, toothpicks and a heat gun
Step-by-step
- Clean and dry the moulds. Any dust shows up in tiny pieces.
- Mix a small batch. For example, 20 g resin + 10 g hardener (2:1 by weight). Mix slowly for 3–5 minutes.
- Fill halfway. Pour a thin layer into each cavity with a stick or toothpick.
- Add decorations. Place flowers, glitter or name stickers face down, using a toothpick.
- Top up with clear resin to the rim.
- Remove bubbles with a quick pass of a heat gun.
- Cure for about 18–20 hours, then demould.
- Add the ring. Drill a small hole if needed, screw in an eye pin and attach the keyring.
💡 Pro tip: Leftover resin from bigger projects is perfect for keychains. Keep a few moulds ready so no resin goes to waste.

FAQs
How much resin for one keychain?
Usually only 5–10 g, depending on the mould size.
Why are my keychains bendy?
Thin pieces can feel slightly flexible at first. Give them extra time to cure fully, especially in cold weather.
How do I stop bubbles in small moulds?
Mix slowly, pour gently with a toothpick, and use a heat gun right after pouring.
