Resin Art in Indian Weather: Summer, Monsoon and Winter Guide

India's weather changes a lot through the year, and resin feels every change. A pour that works perfectly in February can behave very differently in May or July. This season-by-season guide helps you get clear, bubble-free results all year round.
Summer (hot and dry)
In heat, resin becomes thinner and reacts faster, so your working time gets shorter.
- Work in the cooler part of the day: early morning or evening.
- Keep bottles out of direct sun and away from hot windows.
- Mix smaller batches. Big batches heat up in the cup and can thicken quickly.
- Pour soon after mixing. Don't leave mixed resin standing.
- Watch deep pours. For thick pieces, use a deep pour resin like Flex 3:1 and pour in layers of up to 2 inches.
Monsoon (humid)
Humidity is the biggest challenge for resin artists in India. Moisture in the air can cause cloudy, greasy or tacky surfaces.
- Work in an AC room or use a dehumidifier if you can.
- Dry all tools and moulds completely before use.
- Dry flowers and inclusions fully. Store them in an airtight box with silica gel.
- Cover pieces while they cure with a box or tub.
- Close resin bottles quickly after pouring.
💡 Pro tip: If the surface feels slightly tacky after a humid day, move it to a drier, warmer room for another day before deciding it has failed. More help in Why Is My Resin Sticky?
Winter (cold)
Cold makes resin thick, slows curing and traps bubbles.
- Warm the sealed bottles in a bowl of warm water for 10–15 minutes before mixing.
- Keep the room comfortably warm during the pour and overnight while it cures.
- Expect slower curing. Give pieces extra time before demoulding.
- Use a heat gun a little more often to release bubbles.
All-season checklist
- Measure by weight. See How to Mix Epoxy Resin Correctly.
- Mix slowly for 3–5 minutes.
- Keep moulds and tools dry.
- Cover pieces while curing.
- Store resin in a cool, dark place with caps tightly closed.

FAQs
What is the best season for resin art in India?
Dry, mild weather is easiest. You can get great results in any season by following the tips above.
Can I do resin art during the monsoon?
Yes, if you control the moisture: a dry or AC room, dry tools and covered pieces.
Why does my resin cure slowly in winter?
Cold slows the chemical reaction. Keep the room warm and allow extra curing time.
